Long Way and Harley-Davidson: the Perfect COLLABORATION
Long Way Up is extremely excited to announce our collaboration with the iconic motorcycle brand Harley-Davidson. In planning this trip we wanted to make sure that we reduced our carbon footprint wherever possible so we enlisted the help of Harley-Davidson.
Harley-Davidson’s brand new direction towards sustainability made this the perfect collaboration for Ewan and Charley’s 13,000 mile trip from Argentina to Los Angeles. The boys had the chance to ride prototype LiveWire™ electric motorcycles for this season’s adventure, the first electric motorcycle to be produced by a major motorcycle manufacturer.
The electric motorcycles were some of the first in a broad, no-clutch ‘twist and go’ portfolio of electric two-wheelers designed to establish the company as the leader in electrification. Harley-Davidson wants to inspire the next revolution of two-wheeled freedom for future riders proving you can still seize the adventure of the open-road whilst reducing carbon emissions. These motorcycles demonstrate greener alternatives to petrol motorcycles for a whole new generation of bikers.
Specifications:
The electric motor, which Harley calls the H-D Revelation drive, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds by a twist of the throttle and pulls from 60 to 80 mph in 1.9 seconds.
The motor, positioned low-down, give the bikes a low centre of gravity and combined with the rigid lightweight cast aluminium frame and premium adjustable suspension components affords the LiveWire™ rider dynamic handling.
The colour touch screen TFT display offers the rider a wide range of on-screen information including speed, range and battery status.
The bikes can be charged using the on-board Level 1 charger that plugs into a standard household outlet, just like a smartphone, for a full charge overnight with a power cord that stores below the motorcycle seat. LiveWire™ can also be charged with any public Level 2 or Level 3, DC Fast Charge (DCFC) for 80% charge in 40 minutes or 100% charge in an hour.
LiveWire™ offer different Ride Modes. Comprising specific combinations of power, regeneration, throttle response and traction control settings, modes include sport, road, range, and rain.
