Belstaff

Belstaff has been outfitting adventurous spirits – from motorcycle legends and sporting icons to movie stars and revolutionaries – since 1924.

Belstaff are no strangers to Long Way. Nearly twenty years ago they provided clothing to Ewan and Charley as they undertook the ride from London to New York, the Long Way Round and, in 2007, they provided a purpose-built adventure suit as the pair rode from John O’Groats to Cape Town for Long Way Down. In 2020, Belstaff has returned as the official outfitter for Long Way Up.

The Long Way Up collection comprises nineteen pieces and has been co-designed with Ewan and Charley. The pair explored the brand’s nearly 100-year archive, creating pieces that reflect their individual style and personalities and have been made to stand up to the 13,000-mile journey through South and Central America.

Off bike styles include a classic biker silhouette in the Montana leather jacket, a favourite of Ewan, lined in McGregor family tartan, and a range of t-shirts and sweats.

On bike, Ewan worked with Belstaff to co-design the McGregor Wax Jacket, a take on the brand’s iconic four pocket design Belstaff is known for. The jacket features hardwearing and weather-resistant 12oz wax cotton fabric from Scottish mill Halley Stevenson, just 40 miles from the town Ewan grew up, with McGregor tartan lining. Fully waterproof with sealed seams and a breathable membrane, this jacket will ensure you're comfortable while the elements are kept at bay. D3O vented armour at the elbow and shoulder provides peace of mind on the road and true moto credentials.

Made for the road and worn during the adventure by Charley, the Gore-Tex equipped Long Way Up Jacket and Trousers are packed with rider-specific technical details. Made from Gore-Tex Pro guaranteed to keep you dry, both pieces also feature Superfabric at the shoulders, elbows and knees for extra protection, a fabric so indestructible its often worn by bomb disposal experts for safety. The jacket and trousers also feature D3O armoured protection. As the journey took the team to a variety of climates, weatherproofing the riding suit was essential.

As well as being fully waterproof, the suit was adaptable with a ventilation system that kept Charley cool when needed.   Belstaff is proud to provide the Long Way team with a collection that’s built for life on the road less travelled.
